SameMinute

Every minute is a room.

Open the app at 11:11 and you are in the 11:11 room, with everyone on Earth who opened it in that same sixty seconds. No schedule. No feed. When the minute ends, the room is gone.

how a minute works

There is no schedule and nothing to catch up on. You open the app, and the minute you opened it is the room you are in. That is the whole idea.

  1. 01

Open it, and you are in.

No button to press, no queue to join. Open the app at 11:11 and you are in the 11:11 room, with everyone on Earth who opened it in that same sixty seconds. Nobody sees a name. Everyone starts hidden.

  2. 02

Some people show up as stars.

You look through a round glass. The people who chose to be seen are the lights around it. Sweep the glass across them, and when one lands inside it grows. Everyone else stays a number.

  3. 03

    You get one short line.

One thing said to the room, up to 120 characters, one line each. It sits on that minute’s page for whoever is there to read, and you can take yours down whenever you want.

  4. 04

    Then the minute ends.

The room opens again, empty. New people, blank page, nothing to scroll back through. About twenty-five minutes later that minute closes for good.

how you meet someone

Four steps, in order, and nothing happens unless you choose it. Stopping at the first one is a perfectly normal way to use the app.

Ghost

Where everyone starts. You are part of the count and nothing more. No name, no profile, nothing to tap. Even someone who already has your id cannot open your profile, and you can stay like this forever.

Visible

Only if you switch it on. You choose a name to be known by, your country, and up to five interests. That is everything a room can see about you, and now the glass can find you.

One of you asks

One request between the two of you, ever. It cannot be sent again, so nobody is asked over and over. Both people have to be visible, and no contact details travel with it.

The other says yes

Your contact stays on your phone until the moment you accept. Then the two of you can see each other’s, and nobody else ever can. Say no and nothing is shared.

the rules we keep

Four promises that decide what the app is allowed to do.

We never send notifications.
No pings, no red dot, no emails. Your phone will not light up because of us. If you come back it is because you thought of it yourself, and we would rather be forgotten now and then than nag you.
Real numbers, or none.
The number of people in a room comes from our server, and the server decides which minute it is. Changing the clock on your phone will not get you into a minute that has ended. Alone, it says just you, for now, and we would rather say that than invent a crowd.
No accounts, no sign-up.
No email, no password, no phone number. Your phone quietly gets an anonymous id, and you only add a name if you decide to be seen. We could not email you if we wanted to.
No followers, no score.
No likes, no follower counts, no feed, nothing to scroll back through. Nobody here is ranked. The only thing you collect is your own field guide of odd-looking minutes, and it lives on your phone.
11:11 is folklore, not a gate

Every minute works the same way. Open the app at 4:52 and 4:52 is your room. 11:11 is simply where the crowd gathers, because it is the minute the world already looks up for. We have never claimed it means anything. We just know where people go.

between the minutes

Some minutes look special on your own clock. Be in the app while one is live and it is yours, pressed into a field guide. (11:11 is never a specimen. It is the folklore, not the collection.)

Echo

Every digit the same. The clock stutters.

00:00 · 22:22

Mirror

Reads the same backwards. The clock reflects.

01:10 · 13:31 · 21:12

Heartbeat

Two beats, repeated. The clock keeps rhythm.

01:01 · 13:13 · 21:21

Staircase

Digits climbing in a row. The clock ascends.

01:23 · 12:34 · 23:45

Your clock decides which minutes you can collect.

if someone spoils it

Every line and every person carries a report and a block, and your own line can always be taken down. Reports go to a mailbox only a moderator can open. Blocked people stay gone.
